IR Websites: Google Leads Way

Google announced that it will no longer distribute financial news through newswire services, such as Business Wire and PR Newswire, but instead will post it solely on its own IR Website.

Many public companies prefer to take a “wait-and-see” approach, even though the SEC’s updated guidelines approve company websites as acceptable disclosure vehicles.

As a leading-edge technology company, Google can be expected to lead the charge away from traditional ways of communicating to a Google-focused channel. They just announced Google TV, so this move should come as no surprise.

What is a little surprising is the shaking up of earnings calls: they’ve eliminated an additional Q&A session with analysts and the CEO, Eric Schmidt, will no longer participate. How can B2B companies adapt?

Savage pioneered online Annual Reports as well as Investor Relations sites going way back to 1999 with General Motors’ IR website. We even won an award for it two years running!

Some of our current efforts include:

Noble Energy

TPC Group (IR site plus rebranding for Texas Petroleum Chemical)

Ultra Petroleum

Pride International

On deck: Consolidated Graphics IR website redesign.

Give us a call, when you’re ready to make the switch.
