What do Your Holiday Greetings Say About you?

The office begins to look a little different this time of year. For one, the kitchen starts to fill with all sorts of treats. Thankfully, there are quite a few people in the office, so the treats sometimes disappear as quickly as they come (and before I can be too tempted!)

Second, we begin receiving all sorts of cards and “well wishes” in the form of holiday cards. I enjoy seeing each of them come in, and as a designer, reflect upon the choices made on each. Some are foil-stamped or embossed, others contain humor…some are on crisp stock, and others, not so much…

Actually, the annual holiday greeting is another opportunity to showcase your company’s values and culture. Is it a collaborative card with lots of signatures inside, something uniquely designed for the company, or a reminder of corporate giving? Perhaps this isn’t “top of mind” as you make your card selection each year, but what you send out does send a message – and this message is more than just a holiday greeting.

A holiday card will always be opened and read. What else can compare to that kind of open-rate?

Anything that takes time and expense to send out is an opportunity to tell your story. So if you’re going to send out a card each year, why not make it something that reflects your company’s brand messages well.

And to give you one more thing to think about for 2010… Why not consider what a Valentine’s, Memorial Day or an Earth Day card might say about your company? Are there any other occasions during the year where your clients and suppliers might appreciate hearing from you?
